The City-2 police have arrested five persons for alleged fatal beating of a laborer on Kandhwala Road, during a robbery attempt. Among those arrested is a minor, who is set to be produced before the Juvenile Court in Fazilka, while the search for the sixth suspect, who remains at large, is ongoing.
Superintendent of Police Aswant Singh said that on the night of May 11, a group of half a dozen miscreants allegedly attacked Ram Kumar with the intent to rob him, ultimately beating him to death.
On the statement of the deceased’s son, Anil Kumar, a case was registered against Mohit Singh Kranti and Manish Kumar ‘Mani’ of Chandigarh Mohalla; Sukhbir Singh ‘Sultan’ of Shiv Shakya Nagar; Gurbir Singh ‘Deepu’ of Kothi Faiz; Neeraj of Arya Nagar; and a minor resident of Brahma Nagri. The case was initially registered under Sections 310(2), 126(2), 115(2), 191(3), and 190 of the BNS; Section 310(3) has now also been added to the charges.
The SP said that five accused have been apprehended while Neeraj remains at large, and the police are actively searching for him. The minor boy involved in the case has been formally included in the investigation and is being produced before the Juvenile Court in Fazilka.
