GCE CHANDIGARH HOLDS ANNUAL PRIZE DISTRIBUTION, NSS VALEDICTORY; RELEASES COLLEGE MAGAZINE ‘THE EDUCATIONAL OBSERVER’

The Annual Prize Distribution and NSS Valedictory Function of Government College of Education, Chandigarh, Sector 20 was celebrated with great enthusiasm on May 2, 2026. The event marked the culmination of the academic session 2024–26 and served as a platform to recognize and honour the remarkable achievements of students in academics, co-curricular activities, sports, and community service under NSS.

The function commenced with the resonant strains of the college anthem, creating an atmosphere of pride and solemnity. The Principal, Dr. Sapna Nanda, extended a cordial welcome to the esteemed Chief Guest, Dr. Palika Arora, Director of Higher Education (DHE), Chandigarh Administration, along with faculty members and students. In her address, she reflected on the institution’s milestones and reiterated its commitment to academic excellence, value-based education, and holistic development of future educators.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Palika Arora, Director of Higher Education, Chandigarh Administration, delivered an inspiring and thought-provoking address. Emphasizing the pivotal role of teachers and youth in nation-building, she remarked that education is a mission that goes beyond classrooms. She encouraged aspiring educators to lead with empathy, integrity, and a strong sense of social responsibility.

The function then proceeded with the prize distribution ceremony. The prestigious title of All Round Best Graduate Student was awarded to Prabhuti Kaushik for exemplary performance across academic and co-curricular domains. A total of 6 Roll of Honour awards were conferred upon Shruti Chandel, Surbhi, Srishti, Satnam Singh, Kumari Anjali, and Ashveer Singh, along with 16 College Colours awarded to outstanding students. In addition, several Merit Certificates and NSS awards were presented in recognition of excellence in sports, cultural activities, and community engagement.

The occasion also witnessed the release of the college magazine, “The Educational Observer (2025–26)”, reflecting the creative and intellectual vibrancy of the institution.

The programme was further enlivened by vibrant cultural performances that showcased the artistic talents of students. Adding an emotional and reflective dimension, students shared their heartfelt experiences, expressing gratitude for the transformative journey they underwent during their time at the institution.

The NSS segment of the programme highlighted the year-long activities undertaken by the volunteers, including community outreach, awareness drives, and social service initiatives. The Valedictory Ceremony celebrated the dedication and spirit of NSS volunteers who contributed selflessly towards nation-building and social responsibility.

The programme was meticulously organized through the dedicated efforts of the committees: Cultural Committee (Dr. Vandana Aggarwal and Dr. Ravinder Pathiyan), Prize Committee (Dr. Kusum and Ms. Sonika), and NSS Committee (Dr. Balwinder Kaur, Dr. Aarti Bhatt, and Dr. Upasna Thapliyal). The event concluded on a note of pride and renewed inspiration, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to nurturing educators who are not only knowledgeable but also socially conscious torchbearers of change.
