GHALL KHURD ZONE KHO-KHO TOURNAMENT BEGINS UNDER 70TH PUNJAB SCHOOL GAMES

The Kho-Kho competitions of the Ghall Khurd Zone commenced with great enthusiasm at Saragarhi Memorial Meritorious School, Hakumat Singh Wala, under the ongoing 70th Punjab School Games being organised across Ferozepur district. The tournament was inaugurated by Dr Satinder Singh, Principal-cum-Deputy District Education Officer (Secondary), Ferozepur.

After interacting with participating teams, Dr Satinder Singh encouraged the players to compete with true sportsmanship. Addressing the gathering, he said sports are not merely about winning or losing but serve as an effective medium for the physical, mental and overall personality development of students. He added that sports help inculcate discipline, teamwork, leadership, tolerance and punctuality among young players.

He said the Punjab Government and the Education Department are making sustained efforts to promote sports culture at the school level so that talented students get opportunities to showcase their abilities. “Today’s students are tomorrow’s national and international athletes,” he said, urging participants to follow the rules of the game and accept both victory and defeat with equal grace.

Dr Satinder Singh also appreciated the efforts of the zone committee, organisers, officials, referees and coaches for ensuring the smooth conduct of the tournament and providing a platform for students to display their sporting talent.

A large number of teams from different schools participated in the opening day’s competitions. The playground witnessed enthusiasm, discipline and healthy sporting spirit throughout the event.

Among those present were Sukirti Sharma (School Incharge), Baljinder Singh (Zone Secretary), Rajveer Singh (Zone Committee Member), Mani Kamboj (DPE), Ajay Kumar, Maninder Singh, Jaswinder Singh (Lecturer), Malkit Singh (DPE) and Gurbhej Singh (Lecturer).

The organisers said all necessary arrangements had been made for the smooth conduct of the competitions and expressed confidence that the event would further encourage students to actively participate in sports.
