Acting on the complaint of an elderly woman resident of Killianwali Road, the police safely recovered a girl and her 12-year-old nephew from Fatehabad along with cash worth about Rs 3 lakh and some jewelry that was allegedly taken from her. The search for a youth is going on in the case.
According to the police, Surinder Kaur told in a complaint that her daughter Preet Kaur was married in Balluana but got divorced three months ago. After this she was living here. She told that on June 15, when she was coming home with her daughter after withdrawing about 3.5 lakh rupees from the bank, her daughter took all the money with her and went to the market on the pretext of buying clothes for her 12-year-old nephew. But when she did not come home till evening, she lodged a complaint with the police.
The police started investigating the case and on technical grounds sent a police team led by Sub Inspector Ramandeep to Fatehabad, SHO Maninder Singh said that the police recovered Preet Kaur and her nephew safely from a place in Fatehabad area. According to police officials, around Rs 3 lakh in cash was also recovered from the spot. Apart from this, some jewelry made by the girl has also been recovered.
Officials said that the investigation into the missing case registered on the basis of the complaint is ongoing. The process of safely handing over the recovered child to his family members is being adopted, while other aspects of the case are also being investigated. During initial interrogation, the girl told the police that a few months ago she started talking to a young man through the social media platform Instagram. Whereas after reaching Fatehabad, she came to know that the said friend is the father of a child. Now she doesn’t want to go back to him. Police say that the statement of the girl has been recorded and all the facts are being investigated, the search for the youth related to the case is going on.
