“HABITUAL DRUG SMUGGLER”, ACCOMPLICE HELD WITH 28 KG OPIUM

The City-2 Abohar police, today intercepted a canter in suspicion on Malout-Sriganganagar bypass flyover and after searching it, recovered 28 kg of opium from it and arrested both the occupants and registered a case against them.

Police station in-charge Ravinder Singh Bhiti and his team had set up a blockade near Malout-Sriganganagar bypass. They stopped and searched a canter number PB 13BS-6581 on the basis of suspicion and 28 kg of opium was recovered from it. The arrested youth have been identified as Sajan Kumar alias Majnu, resident of Chanan Khera and Gurmeet Singh, resident of Baba Deep Singh Nagar, Abohar. Police have registered a case against both of them under Sections 18, 29, 61, 85 of NDPS.

It came to fore that Sajan Kumar alias Majnu had been booked by Police Stations of Sadar Abohar, Kabarwala, and Lambi under the NDPS Act three times during the past five years but allegedly carried on drug trafficking. The accused would be questioned during police custody further.
