Harshvardhan Godara, son of Arun Kumar Godara, resident of village Sitto Gunno of Abohar sub-division, has won the gold medal for India in the World Powerlifting Championship 2026 held in Thailand. Harshvardhan, participating on behalf of India in the Powerlifting World Championship organized by UWSSF at the Imperial Sports Club of Chiang Mai, Thailand, won the gold. Many countries of the world had participated in this competition, but Harshvardhan stunned everyone by lifting 230 kg in the junior category.
When Harshvardhan hoisted the Indian tricolor on the podium after winning the gold medal, he, his coach and all the Indians present there became emotional. On this occasion, Harshvardhan said that there are many more medals to be won for the country, for which he will now start preparing. He thanked his coach, coaching staff and family members for his success and said that this victory is not mine but of my beloved country India. He dedicated the gold medal to Guru Jambheshwar Ji Maharaj. While dedicating it to Janmashtami, he has attributed his success to the blessings of Guru Jambheshwar Ji Maharaj.
