HARYANA EXTENDS KARNAL SMART CITY PROJECT TILL 2027, CHIEF SECRETARY REVIEWS PROGRESS

The Haryana Government has extended the tenure of Karnal Smart City Limited and its Project Management Consultancy till March 31, 2027 to ensure timely completion of ongoing projects and smooth handing over of assets to the concerned departments. Similarly, Faridabad Smart City Limited project has been granted extension till March 31, 2027.

This was disclosed during the meeting of the State-Level High-Powered Steering Committee (SLHPSC) chaired by Haryana Chief Secretary Sh. Anurag Rastogi today to review the progress of Smart City Mission projects in Karnal and Faridabad.

During the meeting, it was informed that the extension has been granted in line with the directions of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) so that the remaining projects nearing completion can be executed efficiently and citizens continue to benefit from modern urban infrastructure.

The Chief Secretary reviewed the physical and financial progress of projects being implemented under the Smart City Mission in Karnal and Faridabad and appreciated the pace of development works being carried out in both cities. The Chief Secretary emphasized that the Smart City Mission has significantly strengthened urban infrastructure, improved civic amenities and enhanced the quality of life for citizens through modern and technology-driven development initiatives. He directed officials to ensure timely completion of the remaining projects and effective utilization of public assets created under the Mission.

Commissioner and Secretary, Urban Local Bodies Department, Sh. Ashok Kumar Meena informed that Faridabad Smart City Limited has undertaken 46 projects worth Rs 916.83 crore, out of which 32 projects have already been completed. Similarly, Karnal Smart City Limited has taken up 122 projects worth Rs 930 crore, with 86 projects already completed and several others in advanced stages of execution.

He said a large number of completed projects have already been handed over to the concerned departments for future operation and maintenance. Faridabad Smart City Limited has handed over 23 completed projects, while Karnal Smart City Limited has handed over 83 projects to the respective agencies.
