HINDUS GREET FINNS ON JUHANNUS

Face2News/Nevada

In a heartwarming gesture; Hindus have extended warmest greetings to the people of Finland as they celebrate joyous Juhannus; the nation’s cherished and significant midsummer festival honoring light, nature, reflection, and togetherness; which falls on June 20 this year.

Distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, noted that this Finnish observance of the summer solstice resonates deeply with Hindu traditions that revere the sun, seasonal rhythms, and the harmony between humanity and the natural world.

Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism and an interfaith leader, praised this vibrant festival’s emphasis on reflection, renewal, and gratitude for the abundance of nature. These values closely mirrored Hindu teachings on profound respect for nature and cosmos, the spiritual symbolism of light overcoming darkness, and sustainable living; Zed added.

The Finnish traditions around Juhannus emphasized that such festivals reminded humanity of its shared heritage and the universal human desire to celebrate community, light, and warmth; Rajan Zed stated; and indicated that it reinforced the universal message of harmony, peace, and unity.

Zed, who leads interfaith initiatives worldwide; extending heartfelt wishes, conveyed hopes for health, joy, peace, and prosperity for all Finns during this festive season. He expressed the need of celebrating cultural diversity and building bridges, fostering deeper understanding and goodwill, and promoting global harmony rooted in mutual respect and understanding.

Rajan Zed pointed out that although cultures and traditions may seriously differ; humanity shared common aspirations for friendship, harmony, peace, and well-being.

Hinduism, oldest and third largest religion of the world, has about 1.2 billion adherents; and moksh (liberation) is its ultimate goal.

Juhannus is Finland’s ancient traditional national midsummer festival honoring light and fertility; now marked by nationwide traditions such as lakeside bonfires (kokko), sauna, escaping to nature with family and friends, and gatherings under the midnight sun; all serving the purpose of celebrating nature, light, community, and the year’s brightest moment.
