In a shocking incident linked to a family property dispute, a nephew allegedly shot dead his uncle and abducted him in a vehicle before fleeing. The victim, Rahul Malik (45), a property dealer and resident of SBP Dera Bassi, later succumbed to his injuries. Police have arrested the accused nephew, Sahil, and recovered the vehicle used in the crime.

The incident took place around 7:45 PM on Wednesday at the office of Jai Ambe Plywood Hardware and Construction Pvt. Ltd. in Gholumajra village near Lalru. An argument over a domestic matter reportedly escalated, after which Sahil allegedly pulled out a pistol and opened fire on his uncle.
After the shooting, the accused allegedly placed the blood-soaked Rahul Malik in a vehicle, removed the DVR of the CCTV cameras from the premises, and fled the scene.

Following the incident, police teams from Dera Bassi and Lalru launched an intensive operation. Sahil allegedly attempted to escape into Haryana via Ambala. By continuously tracking the vehicle’s movement through toll plazas and sharing location details, Punjab Police coordinated with Haryana Police.

The joint operation led to the arrest of the accused and the recovery of the vehicle used in the crime.

Sources said the family originally belongs to Panipat, Haryana. During the accused’s attempt to flee with his injured uncle, Rahul Malik reportedly died due to excessive blood loss. He had sustained two gunshot wounds. His body has been kept at Civil Hospital, Panipat, for post-mortem examination.
The gruesome murder has created fear and shock in the area, while police have initiated further legal proceedings and are continuing their investigation into the case.
