Face2News/Zirakpur

A major road accident took place early Friday morning near Chhat Light Chowk in Zirakpur after a collision between a private bus and a truck. The passenger bus, which was going from Manali to Delhi, lost control after the impact and overturned in the middle of the road. More than 20 passengers were injured in the accident, while a young man got trapped under the bus and suffered a severe arm injury. His condition is said to be critical.

Aound 45 passengers were travelling in the bus at the time of the accident. As the bus reached near Chhat Light Chowk, a truck heading from Zirakpur towards Patiala reportedly hit the bus. Due to the collision, the bus driver lost control and the vehicle overturned on the road.

Several passengers fell from their seats after the bus overturned, while some got trapped inside the vehicle. Panic broke out at the spot following the accident. Local residents and road safety police personnel jointly launched a rescue operation and pulled the trapped passengers out of the bus.

All the injured were immediately taken to Dera Bassi Civil Hospital. After primary treatment, several seriously injured passengers were referred to Sector-32 Hospital in Chandigarh for further treatment.

The accident caused a major traffic jam on the highway as the overturned bus remained lying in the middle of the road for nearly two hours. Later, the bus was removed with the help of a hydra machine and traffic movement was restored.
