A 24-year-old woman from Dhuri allegedly died by suicide after jumping from a railway overbridge on Dhuri Road near Sangrur late Wednesday night, police said.
The deceased, identified as Rajni, had completed her MBA and had come to Sangrur earlier in the day to attend a job interview with a private company.
According to her father, Ramu, she may have taken the extreme step after failing to secure the job.
DSP Sangrur,Dalbir Singh Sidhu said the body has been sent to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination. Proceedings under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) have been initiated on the basis of the statement of the deceased’s father. Police are conducting further inquiries into the matter.
