Face2News/Chandigarh

Minerva Academy FC have successfully secured qualification for the final rounds of the AIFF Sub-Junior League after an outstanding performance in the playoff rounds held in Mahabalipuram. The defending champions showcased their class and consistency by registering three consecutive victories against strong opposition.

Minerva began their campaign in emphatic fashion with a commanding 7–2 victory over Techtro Lucknow FC. Facing a side that had qualified for the playoff stage for the first time, Minerva displayed their experience and dominance throughout the match. While Techtro Lucknow’s qualification marks a significant step in their development, Minerva underlined the gap in experience at this level with a clinical performance.

In the opening match, Lanchanba Meetei led the scoring with a brilliant brace, while Mamesh Laisram, Mukhtar Rahman, Bickson, and Araav Krishna each added a goal to complete the seven-goal tally. The performance set the tone for Minerva’s campaign, highlighting their attacking depth and control.

The second match saw Minerva Academy FC outclass Sreenidi Deccan FC, an established I-League club, securing a 3–1 victory. Ngaiyaza Zingyo opened the scoring, breaking the deadlock early in the game. Salam Maniton produced a moment of brilliance with a stunning long-range strike from over 35 yards, while Letguohao Kipgen, making a strong comeback from injury, added the third goal. With two wins from two matches, Minerva firmly established themselves at the top of the group standings.

In the final playoff fixture against RKM Football Academy, Minerva delivered yet another dominant performance, registering a resounding 8–1 victory. The match also provided an opportunity for squad rotation, with several players stepping up impressively. Thangmingun netted a brace, while Lanchanba Meetei, Gurba Besra, and Rimoson Singh Huidrom also scored twice each. Additional contributions came from Mukhtar Rahman and Ngaiyaza Zingyo, capping off a comprehensive team performance.

With three wins from three matches, Minerva Academy FC once again demonstrated why they are considered one of the strongest youth development sides in Indian football. Their qualification for the final rounds reinforces their commitment to excellence and their continued dominance at the grassroots level.

Minerva Academy FC now look ahead to the final rounds with confidence, aiming to defend their title and continue their legacy in the AIFF Sub-Junior League.
