Raj Sadosh/Abohar.
Carrying on the Jakhar family’s legacy of exchanging greetings on the festival of lamps and lights, MLA Sandeep Jakhar has started the process of reaching every market to greet the residents on the occasion of Diwali, Dhanteras, Bandi Chhor Diwas and Vishwakarma Day.
In 1972, his grandfather, Udyan Pandit, Bal Ram Jakhar had started the social exercise after he was elected to Punjab Vidhan Sabha. Sons of tall parliamentarian- Sajjan Kumar Jakhar, Surinder Jakhar and Sunil Jakhar- maintained the tradition that provided an opportunity to meet the people directly at least once in a year.
During the visit to the markets today, the MLA prayed that the festival of Diwali brings happiness in the lives of all the residents of the area and they should be blessed with the ability and courage to move forward continuously in the field in which they were working.
He said that the positive response of the residents to the Apna Abohar, Apni Abha campaign has boosted the morale of the TJT team. Even on the occasion of festivals, after the cleaning is done in every house and business establishment, the garbage should be dumped in the vehicles run by the MC, he said. Many councillors besides Mayor Pooja Wadhwa’s husband Naresh Wadhwa and other BJP activists accompanied the MLA.
