The National Flag Day was observed at the Sadqi joint check post on the India-Pakistan border in Fazilka after an impressive retreat ceremony.

Providing information, Lila Dhar Sharma, chief of the Border Area Development Front and President of Ekal Abhiyan East Punjab, said that the young workers and office-bearers of Ekal Abhiyan’s – Hari Sanskar Shiksha Ragupathi Nav Chetna Varg, East Punjab, held the national flag in their hands, sang patriotic songs, and enthusiastically watched the BSF soldiers’ patriotic retreat ceremony.

On this occasion, Sharma said that National Flag Adoption Day in India, since its formal adoption by the Constituent Assembly in 1947, has become an annual commemoration of national unity and freedom. The day is observed nationwide with great reverence, marking the adoption of the tricolour flag as a symbol of India’s sovereignty and aspirations.

A visitor said that she was delighted to know that the Indian flag is lowered every evening by BSF troops in synchronisation with Pakistan Rangers at the joint check posts located at Attari (Amritsar district) opposite Pakistan’s Wagah, Hussainiwala in Ferozepur district across Ganda Singh Wala and at Sadki in Fazilka district.
