A student’s brother was beaten to death by armed youths outside the government school located in village Saiyadwala and the student was injured. The injured were admitted to the government hospital Abohar for treatment. A minor dispute is said to be the reason for the incident that has raised questions about the safety of students.
About 22-year-old Gagandeep Singh, resident of Killianwali, undergoing treatment in the government hospital, alleged that a youth, Purushottam, had threatened to kill his brother Lovpreet who was a student of Govt Sr Sec School, Saiyadwala. Some outsiders were called to attack his brother. On getting information about this, he reached outside the school. About a dozen youths from the other side, who were armed with weapons, attacked Lovepreet and him fatally. Both were badly injured and brought to the government hospital for treatment. Doctors referred Lovepreet Singh to AIIMS Bathinda but he succumbed to fatal injuries.
It is known that village Killianwali has no senior secondary school, the children have to go to village Saiyadwala for senior classes.
Police said that a case had been registered under Sections 103, 115(2), 191(3) and 190 of the BNS on the statement of Gagandeep Singh. Those named were Purushottam of Saiyadwala, Krishan, Mukesh, Bunty and Nitin-residents of Azeemgarh, Abohar. Investigation is underway.
