OPIUM-HEROIN CONSIGNMENT DELIVERED VIA DRONE, FAZILKA BASED SMUGGLER FLEES

A smuggler from Fazilka, who had allegedly arranged for a consignment of opium and heroin to be delivered via drone from across the Pakistan border into the Rawla area of Sriganganagar, has absconded. Two of his local accomplices have been arrested. 505 grams of heroin and 471 grams of opium have been recovered from their possession.

Sriganganagar Superintendent of Police Hari Shankar Yadav said that two youths were found roaming suspiciously near village Chak 8-SKM. Upon apprehending and searching them, the police recovered the opium and heroin. The arrested youths have been identified as locals Azad Khan Joyia and Raj Kumar. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act, and further investigation handed over to Inspector Imran Khan.

During interrogation, the suspects reportedly revealed that the consignment had been ordered via drone by Jaspal Singh (alias Gaggu) from Fazilka, who had coordinated with smugglers in Pakistan. Packets were dropped into a field from a drone across the border the previous night.

Jaspal Singh had allegedly handed the packets to the two youths to hide and had left the scene himself. The police caught Azad Khan and Raj Kumar red-handed while they were on their way to conceal the packets in the field.

A police team has launched a search for Gaggu. The recovered heroin packet bears a round stamp with the mark “999” and also features the inscription “555 Blue Sapphire 999” in English. Intensive interrogation of both accused is underway, and their mobile phones are also being examined
