OVER 80 PARTICIPANTS TAKE PART IN 8TH DISTRICT YOGA CHAMPIONSHIP IN FEROZEPUR

With an aim to promote awareness about yoga and healthy living, the District Yoga Association, Ferozepur organized the 8th District Yoga Championship at D.C. Model Senior Secondary School. More than 80 yoga enthusiasts participated in the championship and showcased their skills across various age categories.

The championship was inaugurated with the traditional lighting of the lamp under the leadership of Punjab Yoga Association President Dr. Anirudh Gupta. Participants conveyed the message of a healthy lifestyle through impressive yoga performances.

Dr. Gurnam Singh Farmah, General Secretary of the association, said that Rajinder Sharma, founder of Dhingra Park, Advocate Ashwini Sharma, Dr. K.C. Arora and Arun Chharia were among the distinguished guests present on the occasion.

The competition was judged by Devaraj Khullar, Ashok Kumar, Kulwant Singh, Roshan Bajaj, Kuljeet Singh, Bir Singh, Amarinder Singh Farmah, Pooja Chann, Sanjani Agrawal, Gurdev Singh, Rekha Arya and Vishav Bandhu.

Among those present were Principal Yachna Chawla, Deputy Principal Manish Banga, Heena Arora, Senior Head Sports Abhishek Madan, Yoga Teacher Kamaljeet Singh and Gaurav Sharma.

Dr. Gurnam Singh informed that in the 8-10 years boys category, Savir Bagi of Dass and Brown School secured first position, Madhav stood second and Drishtant of DCM International School finished third. In the girls category of the same age group, Rajmeet Kaur secured first position, Jasmeen Kaur second and Jaisrin Kaur third.

In the 10-12 years boys category, Yash of Doon Junior School secured first position, Gurswaroop of Dass and Brown School stood second and Nitansh Chopra finished third. In the girls category, Vanshika of St. Joseph Convent School secured first place, Ramandeep of Government Middle School Lohgarh came second and Diya of Dass and Brown School finished third.

In the 12-14 years girls category, Saavi Sharma of Doon Junior School secured first position, Sargun of DCM Senior Secondary School stood second and Tajinder of Government Middle School Lohgarh finished third. In the 14-16 years girls category, Harleen Kaur of Government Middle School Lohgarh secured first position, Gurlabh Kaur of DCM Senior Secondary School stood second and Bhumika finished third.

In the 18-21 years girls category, Pradeep Kaur of Government School Mohkam Khan Wala secured first position. In the 35-45 years women category, Sonia finished first. In the above-45 women category, Mamta secured first position while Pooja stood second. In the above-45 men category, Bir Singh secured first place, Kuljeet Singh finished second, while Roshan Lal Bajaj and Pradeep Kumar jointly secured third position.

The organizers thanked all participants, coaches and parents for making the event a success and extended their best wishes to the winners for the forthcoming state-level championships. The winners were also felicitated by the association.
