PANCHKULA MAYOR ELECTION: BJP CANDIDATE SHYAMLAL BANSAL DEFEATED CONGRESS CANDIDATE SUDHA BHARDWAJ BY MARGIN OF 36252 VOTES

 In the 2026 Panchkula Municipal Corporation elections, the BJP has registered a massive victory. It can also be described as a one-sided win for the party. With this significant win, the BJP has retained control of the Mayor’s post in Panchkula.

BJP candidate Shyamlal Bansal defeated Congress candidate Sudha Bhardwaj by a huge margin of 36,252 votes in the mayoral contest. Bansal received a total of 68,544 votes, while his rival Sudha Bhardwaj managed to secure only 32,292 votes, resulting in her defeat.

Other candidates in the mayoral race also received relatively low support. Manoj Aggarwal of INLD secured 3,465 votes. Rajesh Kumar, the Aam Aadmi Party candidate, received 2,759 votes. Independent candidate Karnail Singh Bangad got 1,188 votes, while Chaudhary Chandan Singh received 1,051 votes. In addition, 1,443 votes were cast for NOTA.

The State Election Commission released the official results at 3:30 PM and officially declared Shyamlal Bansal of the BJP as the winner of the Panchkula Mayor post. Following Bansal’s victory, celebrations have begun in the BJP camp, with people rejoicing and playing drums and musical instruments
