Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually address thousands of simultaneous programs across the country at 10:30 AM on Sunday, August 2 as part of the “Drug-Free Youth for Developed India” campaign. Concurrently, the Prime Minister will also virtually launch the nationwide “Mega Campaign for Drug-Free Pledges,” spearheaded by the Brahma Kumaris, which aims to secure pledges from ten crore people. Under this mega campaign, programs will be organized by the Brahma Kumaris across 6,000 service centers and 50,000 study centers nationwide. The August 2 event will also be broadcast live at major Brahma Kumaris retreat centers across the country.
Additional Secretary General Dr. BK Mrityunjaya Bhai said that Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Dr. Virendra Kumar will also virtually address the gathering regarding the drug-free pledge mega campaign. The organization will conduct this special campaign across the country from August 2 to August 20, with the objective of administering the drug-free pledge to ten crore people.
Dr. Banarasi Lal, Secretary of the Medical Wing, said that the Brahma Kumaris had signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and the Narcotics Control Bureau regarding the “Drug-Free India” campaign. Under this initiative, the Brahma Kumaris administered the drug-free pledge to 3.16 crore people through 30,775 programs conducted nationwide over three years. The campaign covered 11,673 villages through 19,102 programs in various cities across the country, in addition to organizing programs in 9,915 schools and colleges.
