The Punjab Cricket Association Senior & PCA Junior teams won their league matches in the 7th Rama Atray Memorial Cricket Tournament held here today at DAV School , Sector-8, Chandigarh. The final match will be played tomorrow at 1:30 pm at the Mahajan Cricket Ground, Chandigarh, between the UT Cricket Association, Chandigarh, and the Punjab Cricket Association Senior Women’s Team.
According to tournament Convenor & Ex. IAS officer Mr. Vivek Atray, Mrs. Gurpreet Deo (IPS) Special DGP of Punjab will be the Chief Guest for the Prize Distribution Function at 4.p.m. The winning team will receive a cash prize of ₹ 1 lakh & trophy, and the runner-up team will receive a cash prize of ₹50,000 and a trophy. Mr.Chander Shekhar (IPS), former DGP of Punjab Police, today presented the Player of the Match award and blessed both women’s teams allongwith Captain Sushil Kapoor, Organising Secretary of the tournament.
In today’s first league match, the Punjab Cricket Association Seniors team defeated the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association by a huge margin of 104 runs. Ankita Pathak of the Punjab Cricket Association Seniors was named Player of the Match for her excellent all-round performance. Batting first, the Punjab Cricket Association Seniors team scored 177 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 20 overs.
Ankita Pathak scored a brilliant 61, Harsimran Jeet Kaur made a quickfire 49, Priya Kumari scored an unbeaten 30, and Pragati Singh scored an unbeaten 15. On the bowling front, Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association bowlers Manisha Rawat and Preet Ji Kahlon each took a wicket. In reply, Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association was all out for 73 runs in 17.3 overs, losing the match by 104 runs. Captain Nancy Sharma top-scored with 24, Anshika Thakur scored 11, and Manisha Rawat scored 10. On the bowling front, Punjab Cricket Association Seniors bowlers Mamta Rani, Priyanka Mutreja, Neetu Singh, and Ankita Pathak took two wickets each, while Pratibha took one.
In the final league match of the tournament, the Punjab Cricket Association Women’s Junior team defeated the Goa Cricket Association by five wickets. Khushnwal Kaur of the Punjab Cricket Association was named Player of the Match. Batting first, Goa Cricket Association scored 118 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. Tanaya Naik scored 31 runs, Vinvi Gurav scored 29 runs, and Divya Naik scored 26 runs. Punjab Juniors bowler Alisha Mehta took 2 wickets, while Shivani, Shruti Yadav, and Parineeta each took 1 wicket.
In reply, Punjab Juniors achieved the target of 119 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 19.1 overs, winning the match by 5 wickets. Kushnawal top-scored with a match-winning 50 runs off 43 balls, followed by Akanksha Saini with 20 runs, Manreet Aulakh with 19 runs, and Shruti Tiwari with 13 runs not out. Goa Cricket Association bowler Shreya Subhash took 2 wickets, while Harshita Yadav and Sunanda Yetrekar each took 1 wicket.
