A commemorative ceremony marking the 56th birthday of Imtiaz Rasheed Qureshi, Chairman of the Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation Pakistan, was held at the Jinnah Lounge of the Lahore High Court Bar Association.

Among those present were Pakistan Muslim League (Q) Punjab Additional Secretary Muhammad Ishtiaq Gohar, Advocate; Mian Muhammad Tariq Amin, Advocate; Pir Muhammad Waheed Qureshi, Advocate; Tariq Mahmood Malhi; Shams-ul-Haq Qazzafi; Munawar Khokhar; Riaz Bhatti and Mian Muhammad Afzal.

Addressing the gathering, Qureshi said he was deeply satisfied that the Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation Pakistan had evolved beyond merely commemorating a historical figure and had become a platform for promoting historical, cultural and human connections between the peoples of Pakistan and India, while highlighting the message of peace and friendship.

“Pakistan and India share deep historical and cultural connections. These common bonds can provide a meaningful foundation for greater people-to-people contact, mutual understanding and peaceful engagement,” Qureshi said.

He emphasized that people on both sides should have opportunities to understand each other’s history and cultural heritage, listen to differing perspectives and, despite political differences, promote peace, tolerance and mutual respect.

“Wars and hatred cannot provide a sustainable future for the people of the region. We need stronger people-to-people contacts, dialogue, cultural exchanges and a consistent voice for peace,” he said.

He reaffirmed his determination to continue raising his voice for peace, people-to-people engagement, historical awareness and better relations between Pakistan and India.

“I will continue to play my part in bringing the peoples of Pakistan and India closer and in spreading the message of peace and friendship,” he said.
