RAKSHA BANDHAN CELEBRATED IN LAHORE WITH A MESSAGE OF PAKISTAN-INDIA LOVE, PEACE AND BROTHERHOOD

A special ceremony to celebrate Raksha Bandhan was held at the residence of Pandit Bhagat Lal Khokhar in Lahore. The chief guest was Imtiaz Rasheed Qureshi, Chairman of the Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation Pakistan. A large number of people belonging to different schools of thought attended the ceremony.

Imtiaz Rasheed Qureshi said that Raksha Bandhan is a beautiful symbol of the eternal bond of love, affection and respect between brothers and sisters. He said that Pakistan and India share a common cultural heritage, traditions and values, and festivals such as Raksha Bandhan provide a wonderful opportunity to celebrate these shared bonds. He emphasized that the people of Pakistan and India have deep-rooted cultural and emotional connections and said that celebrating such beautiful festivals together can help bring the people of the two countries closer and tear down the walls of hatred and hostility.

Qureshi further said that people-to-people contact is the strongest bridge for promoting lasting peace, friendship and understanding between Pakistan and India. Instead of hatred, conflict and division, both countries should promote the values of love, humanity, peace, tolerance and mutual respect.

A particularly touching moment of the ceremony came when a Hindu girl, Shobhna, tied a beautiful Rakhi made with the flags of Pakistan and India around the wrist of Imtiaz Rasheed Qureshi. In response to her gesture of affection and goodwill, Qureshi presented Shobhna with gifts and expressed his gratitude for her gesture of brotherly love.

The participants described the ceremony as a symbol of peace, religious harmony, brotherhood and people-to-people friendship between Pakistan and India, saying that such cultural and traditional celebrations can play an important role in bringing the people of the two countries closer together. The ceremony concluded with prayers for peace, friendship, harmony and stronger people-to-people relations between Pakistan and India.
