Gopichand Arya Mahila College celebrated ‘Saawan Di Nuhar – Teeyan Da Tyohar’ with great enthusiasm, fervour and traditional Punjabi spirit, in collaboration with the Women Studies Centre (WSC).
Pooja Wadhwa, Mayor, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Dr. Shakuntala Midha, former HoD Punjabi attended as the Guest of Honour.
The students presented a vibrant cultural programme comprising folk songs, solo and group dances, Haryanvi dance and traditional Giddha, creating an atmosphere filled with joy and cultural pride. The traditional Boliyan, presented during Giddha were especially appreciated by the audience.
During the programme, Mannat was crowned Miss Teej, Gurpreet Kaur received the title of Best Dressed, while Komal was honoured as Miss Talented.
Principal Dr. Rekha Sood Handa said that “Teej is not merely a festival; it is a beautiful medium to connect the younger generation with its roots, rich heritage and Punjabi culture.”
The event was coordinated by Dr. Neeraj Mehta, Vanita Makkar and Banita Godara, with the active support of Paridhi Kataria, Arushi, Kamlesh, Priyanka, Komal, Rishu Kumar, Dinesh Sharma and Sunil Soni. Kamlesh conducted the programme engaging the audience through her melodious anchoring, poetry and Boliyan.
