Raj Sadosh/Abohar.

Haryana AGTF has arrested Shakti Kumar, resident of Rajiv Nagar, Abohar for whom Punjab Police had announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh in connection with the broad daylight murder of Sanjay Verma, co-owner of New Wearwell Emporium on July 7, 2025. Officials said that Shakti was apprehended in Hisar.

Earlier, Rajasthan AGTF had arrested two suspected individuals, identified as Rajinder alias Billa and Jaskaran alias Karan Katta from Jodhpur, who allegedly had direct involvement in murder of Sanjay Verma.

Available information suggested that Rajinder alias Billa and Jaskaran alias Karan Katta, were absconding in the case. The process of bringing both of them to Abohar and handing them over to Punjab Police shall be started soon.

Sanjay Verma was shot dead outside his showroom at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk, Abohar on July 7, 2025. He got down from the car and was going towards the showroom when three waiting individuals approached the car and opened fire on him. The attackers fled from the spot after the incident using a car that had been reportedly parked near Sitto Gunno Road. .

During the investigation, the police initially arrested Ramratan and Jaspreet Singh of Patiala who had allegedly facilitated the escape of the shooters; both were killed in a police encounter. The then DGP (Special) Law and Order Arpit Shukla had visited the site of the incident. Later, police had arrested a dozen suspects from Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra for providing logical support to the killers. Lawrence Bishnoi’s close relative Arzoo had taken responsibility for the murder.

It had surfaced that Shakti of Azeemgarh and two more individuals, having criminal record, were hired to kill Sanjay Verma.
