Acting on credible intelligence, the Special Task Force (STF) of Kangra district seized 223 grams of chitta (heroin) near Shastri Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Jasur, Nurpur, and arrested three suspects.

A police spokesperson said the STF team, constituted to strengthen the state’s “Chitta-Free Himachal” campaign, was on routine patrol in the Jasur area when it received reliable information about suspected drug trafficking near the ITI. Acting swiftly, the team searched the three individuals and recovered 223 grams of the contraband from their possession.

All three accused were arrested on the spot. A case has been registered against them under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Nurpur Police Station, Police District Nurpur. Police are continuing to interrogate the accused to trace the source of the narcotics, the supply chain, and any links to a larger drug trafficking network.

The spokesperson said the operation reflects the state police’s firm commitment to curbing drug trafficking, protecting youth from substance abuse, and strengthening public awareness against narcotics.

Citizens are encouraged to report any information related to drug trafficking or narcotics through the Police Helpline 112 or at their nearest police station. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu launched the statewide Anti-Chitta Campaign on November 15, 2025. Since then, the Himachal Pradesh Police and the Special Task Force have been conducting sustained operations across the state to realize the vision of a “Chitta-Free Himachal.”

The police department reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating the menace of chitta and building a drug-free Himachal Pradesh with the support of the Chief Minister’s leadership and the active participation of the people, especially the youth.
