SRI ANANDPUR SAHIB RESIDENT ISSUED NOTICE FOR RELEASING “FAKE VIDEO” OF TEENAGE VICTIM

Raj Sadosh/Abohar.

Sriganganagar police have issued notice to a resident of  Sri Anandpur Sahib for allegedly uploading a “fake video” relating to “forced exploitation” of a 14-year-old girl in Sriganganagar hotels. Police said that two videos of the victim girl were going viral on social media, on which the police have registered a case in the cyber police station and immediately started investigation.

This case has been registered on the basis of the report of ASI Gurtej Singh, media in-charge of the Superintendent of Police office. This is a very sensitive and sensational case as the girl was allegedly exploited for four days in three different hotels of the city on June 22. Last Friday, in both the videos viral on social media, it was being claimed that these videos were of the same teenage victim of Sriganganagar incident. Police officials have clearly said that both the videos are completely fake. These videos relate to another teenage victim in another case and have nothing to do with the Sriganganagar incident.

The cyber team thoroughly investigated the viral video. The mobile number of the uploader was clearly mentioned on one of the videos. Contacting that number revealed that the video was uploaded by a person from Anandpur Sahib. The police have issued a notice to this person and asked him to appear at the police station within 5 days. Where did the other video come from and who uploaded it on social media and the people who made it viral are being identified. Police are also investigating who forwarded these videos on WhatsApp groups and other social media platforms.

Police have clarified that in POCSO Act cases, making videos of victims viral without verification is a serious crime and strict action will be taken against such acts
