THREE SHOPS FOUND SELLING IMPORTED CIGARETTES; ONE HOOKAH ESTABLISHMENT SEALED DURING INTELLIGENCE-BASED ENFORCEMENT DRIVE

JOINT ENFORCEMENT DRIVE BY CHANDIGARH LEGAL METROLOGY AND FOOD SAFETY DEPARTMENTS

The Chandigarh Legal Metrology Department and the Chandigarh Food Safety Department today jointly conducted an enforcement drive at various establishments in Chandigarh, based on specific intelligence and information received by the departments.

During the operation, three shops were found selling imported cigarettes, while one establishment was found operating hookah-related activities.

The one hookah establishment was sealed during the drive, while necessary action was also initiated against the shops involved in the sale of imported cigarettes, in accordance with the applicable provisions.

The joint enforcement drive is part of an intelligence- and information-based enforcement approach adopted by the departments to identify establishments involved in violations and take appropriate action.

The departments reiterated that such enforcement drives will continue to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations and to safeguard public interest.
