Police in Sriganganagar held two youths from Shehtirwala, border area village in Fazilka, and a search led to the recovery of 67 grams of heroin (‘chitta’). Following their interrogation, the police also apprehended a young woman.
Subhash Chander Dhil, the SHO of the Sadar Police Station, stated that the detained youths have been identified as Peerditta Singh and Gurpreet Singh. Gurpreet works as a manual labourer at the new grain market in Abohar. Interrogation revealed that Peerditta had been sourcing heroin from a man named Gagan in Abohar, for about a year. About four months ago, Gagan introduced him to another local trafficker known as ‘Boxer’. It was Boxer who lured him into the illicit heroin supply trade; he began supplying heroin on Boxer’s behalf.
The interrogation further revealed that after selling the contraband, Peerditta would hand over the proceeds to “Boxer”, who would then pay him a commission. Peerditta said that he had obtained 70 grams of heroin from Boxer the previous day, coordinating the deal entirely via WhatsApp calls. He also disclosed that he supplies heroin to a woman named Jaswinder Kaur in Sriganganagar; she had contacted him via WhatsApp two days prior and requested 100 grams of heroin.
According to police sources, Peerditta had come to supply the heroin to Jaswinder Kaur last night, accompanied by Gurpreet Singh. They were apprehended while on their way to deliver the consignment to Jaswinder Kaur. Sub-Inspector Sunil Kumar is investigating the case registered against them.
Based on the interrogation of Peerditta, Jaswinder Kaur was also taken into custody today. The police are registering a case against her under the NDPS Act. Peerditta has reportedly admitted to supplying heroin to Jaswinder Kaur on three or four previous occasions.
