Prof. (Dr.) Jai Shankar Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Patiala, said that hard work is the most effective mantra for success in any field. The harder you work, the better the results—whether it is a moot court competition or an actual case being heard in a court of law.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the two-day ‘2nd Dr. S.S. Tantia National Moot Court Competition-2026,’ organized by the Faculty of Law at Tantia University, Sriganganagar, he emphasized that regardless of whether a case is minor or major, studying and understanding it thoroughly will enable a better presentation in court, thereby strengthening one’s position.
The guest of honour, retired District and Sessions Judge Vishnu Dutt Sharma, remarked that while the lesson of integrity might not be explicitly taught in college, it will prove to be the most valuable asset once students enter the administrative or judicial services, or the legal profession. He advised students not to limit themselves solely to their academic curriculum but to actively participate in other activities and remain observant of their surroundings—this, he noted, is the key to success.
Tantia University’s VC, Prof. (Dr.) M.M. Saxena, expressed his appreciation for the Faculty of Law for organizing a competition on such a significant scale. Earlier, Dr. Saurabh Garg, Dean of the Faculty of Law, outlined the structure of the event. The proceedings were moderated by Assistant Professor Shreya Dhingra.
Following the inauguration, the rounds between the various participating teams commenced. A total of 46 teams from 10 states—including Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Gujarat, Karnataka, Odisha, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh—are participating in the competition.
