TWO INJURED AS ROOF COLLAPSES DURING THE RAIN

Raj Sadosh/Abohar.

The rain late last night in Nai Abadi turned into a disaster for one family when the roof of a room collapsed early Thursday morning. A resident and his grandson who were sleeping inside were badly injured after being trapped under the debris. They were rescued by nearby residents and family members took them to the Civil Hospital, from where both were referred to AIIMS Hospital in Bathinda.

According to information, Subhash (65) , a resident of Street-9 in Nai Abadi, and his 18-year-old grandson Shivam, were sleeping in the room as usual. Due to the rain that had started last night, at around 6 a.m. while they were asleep in the room, the roof suddenly collapsed on them, burying them under the rubble. Hearing their cries, other family members sleeping in nearby rooms sought help from people in the vicinity, and with their assistance, the two were pulled out in serious condition about one and a half hours later and taken to the hospital.

Meanwhile, according to doctors, the heavy debris caused both legs of Subhash Chandra to fracture, while Shivam suffered deep injuries to his head. After giving primary medical aid, they were referred to AIIMS Bathinda. The affected family has appealed to the state government for relief.
