UT CHANDIGARH ADMINISTRATION ISSUED PUBLIC HEALTH ADVISORY FOR SUMMER SEASON

In lieu of the ongoing summer season and the increased risk of food-borne illnesses, the Food Safety Department, Chandigarh advises the general public to take the following precautions while purchasing and consuming fruits:

• Avoid eating cut or peeled fruits sold in the open at roadside stalls, rehri markets, and street vendors. These are exposed to dust, flies, and contamination.
• Do not buy fruits that are overripe, bruised, damaged, or have an unusual smell or appearance.
• Wash all fruits thoroughly with clean potable water before eating, even if you plan to peel them.
• Purchase fruits only from clean, shops/vendors who maintain proper hygiene and storage.
• Consume cut fruits immediately. Do not store cut fruits for long hours, especially in hot weather.
