VALMIKI SAMAJ STAGES PROTEST OVER SANT NAGAR SHOOTING INCIDENT

Abohar (Face2News).

Alleging inaction in a recent incident in which a young man, Ajay, was shot outside the Valmiki Samaj temple cum community hall, the affected family and Valmiki Samaj members on Tuesday organised a protest at the Shaheed Chowk outside the Sadar Bazar here.

The protesters said that one Sagar Nepali was named in the FIR claiming that the weapon used in the crime was in his possession but failed to arrest him. While raising slogans against the police administration, the protesters alleged that the shooting was carried out at the behest of a local AAP leader. The individual named by the protesters had recently met AAP supremo at New Delhi, along with his family members.

The Valmiki community staged a sit-in and blocked the terminal. Members of the Safai Sewak Union also joined the protest.

Akash, brother of the victim, Ajay Kumar—said that the police had previously registered a false case against him without proper investigation during the elections. He alleged that even after his brother was shot, the police have neither apprehended the accused nor taken action against the AAP leader who allegedly instigated the attack.

Refuting the theory offered by the police that the victims had some dispute with Sriganganagar based gangster Vishal Pachar, Akash said that he does not even know Vishal Pachar and has no dealings with him. He explained that the conflict stemmed from an incident where the aforementioned AAP leader wanted to construct a shed at the Sant Nagar Dharamshala; which was opposed.

Police have apprehended one of three suspects last Sunday, identifying him as Gautam Dhetarwal, of Ganeshgarh, Sriganganagar.

Protesters demand action on the basis of victim Ajay Kumar’s statement and examine the role of the said AAP leader who had been convicted for conspiracy in a previous murder case
