The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing drive against corruption in the state, has apprehended ASI Satroop Singh and Gurcharan Singh Reader to SHO, Police Station Cyber Crime Bathinda, red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. one lakh.
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the state VB said that a case was registered against complainant’s son at Police Station Cyber Crime, Bathinda. In this connection, accused ASI Satroop Singh and Gurcharan Singh, Reader To SHO demanded a bribe of Rs. 1,00,000/- from the complainant for not arresting his son in this case and will help to get his son’s bail and will get the compromise with the other party.
Unwilling to pay the illegal gratification, complainant approached the VB Flying Squad -1 SAS Nagar. Acting on his complaint, the VB team laid a trap during which the accused were arrested red handed while accepting bribe money of Rs one lakh from the complainant in presence of two official witnesses.
In this regard, a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against these accused at VB police station SAS Nagar and further investigation into this case is under progress.
