Raj Sadosh/Abohar.

Due to heavy rain, the mud wall of a slum located in Arya Nagar suddenly collapsed. A man sitting inside, his sister and two children were buried under the debris. Fortunately, there was no loss of life in this accident.

Locals said that Ajay Kumar, who deals in scrap, was present in the slum. His sister Shakuntala (40), resident of Sirsa, and Ajay’s two children Jehan and Tarun were also sitting with him. Meanwhile, heavy rain started and the wall built along the slum suddenly fell on them.

There was chaos at the spot after the accident. People nearby immediately started relief work and pulled out the four people buried under the debris. The injured were admitted to the civil hospital for treatment, where Shakuntala is said to have suffered more injuries.

The family also suffered financial loss due to the wall collapse. A recently purchased cooler and other household items kept near the slum also got broken.

People said that dilapidated and weak walls remain a constant threat during the rainy season. The administration should survey such places and take necessary action to prevent reoccurrence of such mishaps.
