In a joint operation, the CIA staff of Punjab Police and Border Security Force have seized heroin and foreign made weapons which are believed to have been smuggled through a drone from Pakistan.
Fazilka SSP Gagan Ajit Singh said that the CIA staff led by Inspector Sunil Kumar, in coordination with the BSF, seized 2.515 kg of heroin, a pistol (Pietro Beretta, made in Italy, of caliber .30 bore, 13 live cartridges and an empty magazine) from three individuals. The accused were identified as Balwinder Singh of Dhani Amarpur Fattuwala, Sukhdev Singh of Jodha Bhani and Nimmo Bai of village Hazara Ram Singh were arrested.
A case under Sections 21, 29/61/85 of the NDPS Act and 25/54/59 Arms Act has been registered. Preliminary investigation indicated that Balwinder Singh had already been named in two similar cases registered at Jalalabad and Ferozepur. It is believed that the consignment was smuggled from Pakistan through a drone. Investigation was ongoing.
