NGO TAMMANA CELEBRATES INDEPENDENCE DAY WITH 150 CHILDREN AT A SLUM IN ZIRAKPUR

NGO Tammana celebrated Independence Day with 150 children in a slum in Zirakpur through an Independence Day Carnival as its Event #179.

The fun, interactive and learning-focused carnival brought together children and volunteers. The morning began with the National Anthem, followed by Tricolour Face Painting, games, activities, quiz and learning, including the India Map Challenge.

Isha Kakaria, Founder President, NGO Tammana, said, “Independence is also about creating equal opportunities to learn, participate and dream. Community celebrations like this allow us to take that spirit beyond our usual spaces and make children feel seen, included and valued. The response from the children was a reminder that meaningful engagement does not always require elaborate resources. When people come together with time, energy and intent, even a simple community celebration can create a lasting impact.”

Nimrat Saini, Event SPOC, said, “The children received comic books, stationery, smiley balls and gifts, along with refreshments. The celebration combined knowledge and joy, with children dancing to patriotic numbers and coming together with the Indian flag. The enthusiasm and participation from the children made the carnival a memorable Independence Day celebration.”

NGO Tammana has been working since 2008 across education, healthcare, environment and community welfare.
