Raj Sadosh/Abohar.
A minor girl belonging to an influential family in Abohar’s Gobind Nagari was lured away by a young man about a month ago, and their whereabouts remain unknown to this day. Angered by the lack of strict action following their complaint, the girl’s family and supporters staged a protest at the police station today. Present on the occasion were Mahila Congress District President and Councillor from Sri Ganganagar, Kamala Rani; Youth Congress General Secretary Ajay Kumar; Abohar Councillors Vijay Chhabra, Anuj Dhawan, Prem Chugh, and Sachin Setia and others.
The girl, aged less than 18 years, was a bright Class 12 student. Her family stated that about a month ago, a young man residing in Seed Farm lured her away. The family lodged a complaint. The City-1 police registered a case and initiated an investigation; however, even after a month, there has been no trace of the pair.
SHO Maninder Singh said that a case was registered on May 23 under Sections 137(2) and 96 of the BNS against Omkar Singh, his maternal grandfather Nand Singh, brother Gaggu, and mother Krishna Rani—all residents of Seed Farm Pakka. Krishna Rani had been arrested and sent to jail. The police have searched for the youth across three neighbouring states but have found no clues so far. Efforts to locate them using various technical means are ongoing
