ONLY CONGRESS CAN ENSURE STABILITY, SAFETY IN PUNJAB: BHUPESH BAGHEL

Fazilka (Vikram Ditya Sharma)

Asserting that Punjab needs a stable government, AICC general secretary in-charge for Punjab Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday said only the Congress could ensure peace, stability and security in the state, alleging that the Aam Aadmi Party government had pushed Punjab towards lawlessness.

Addressing the ‘Har Booth Congress Mazboot’ programme in Fazilka, Baghel claimed that after touring ten districts of Punjab, he was convinced that people had made up their mind to bring the Congress back to power in the 2027 Assembly elections. He urged party workers to ignore minor differences and work unitedly, saying differences of opinion were natural in every family but should not come in the way of a larger political battle.

Targeting the AAP government, Baghel alleged that gangsters were openly issuing extortion threats and innocent people were being killed in broad daylight, creating an atmosphere of fear. He further accused the government of promoting the sand, land and mining mafias.

PPCC president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring said his only dream was to witness a Congress Chief Minister taking oath after the next Assembly elections. Thanking the Congress leadership and Rahul Gandhi for reposing faith in him, Warring asserted that he had always remained loyal to the party and would continue to do so.

Making it clear that indiscipline would not be tolerated, Warring said no party ticket would be given to those working as “sleeper cells” for rival parties, adding that loyalty to the Congress was non-negotiable.

Launching a fresh attack on Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Warring accused the AAP government of pushing Punjab deeper into drugs, debt and unemployment. He also criticised the government over declining investment in the state and alleged that Punjabi youth were being forced to migrate abroad in search of better opportunities.
