On the call of the DAV Coordination Committee of Punjab and Chandigarh College Teachers Union (PCCTU), members of DAV campus colleges organized a peaceful candle march that started from DAV College, went to City Walk Mall and ended at the DAV campus.
This protest was carried out in protest against the delay by the DAV College Managing Committee in fulfilling the legitimate and long pending demands of the teaching community. It is noteworthy that similar candle marches are being organized by all the DAV colleges of Punjab in different cities.
Main demands: Release of arrears of 7th Pay Commission for uncovered staff. Deduction of PF on gross salary instead of basic salary for teachers of 1925 cadre. Providing full retirement benefits. To implement promotion under Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) for teachers of 1925 cadre. Rectification of promotion cases under CAS of uncovered staff members.
This march was led by PCCTU Vice President Dr. Rajesh Khatri and Fazilka District President Dr. Suresh Kumar Sharma. Members of DAV College of Education, Gopi Chand Arya Mahila College and DAV College Malout also participated in this demonstration
