PUNJAB MANDI BOARD LAUNCHES ‘ALL INDIA STATE AGRICULTURAL MARKETING BOARD T-20 CRICKET TOURNAMENT

Under the leadership of Punjab Mandi Board Chairman Harchand Singh Barsat, the All India State Agricultural Marketing Board T-20 Cricket Tournament 2026 (Season-2) has commenced, bringing together teams from Agricultural Marketing Boards across the country.

Participating teams include the Punjab State Agricultural Marketing Board, Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board, Himachal Pradesh State Agricultural Marketing Board, Uttarakhand State Agricultural Marketing Board, and Delhi Agricultural Marketing Board.

Prior to the formal inauguration of the tournament, which will be held from June 7 to June 12, Chairman Harchand Singh Barsat hosted a special dinner for players from all participating teams at Kisan Bhawan, Chandigarh.

Players and officials from various states were warmly welcomed. On the occasion, Barsat presented bouquets to the participants and interacted with them, encouraging all players to deliver outstanding performances during the tournament.

Addressing the gathering, the Chairman emphasized the importance of sports in everyday life. He stated that the Punjab Mandi Board has opened state mandis as indoor stadiums during the off-season to encourage children and youth to participate in sports by providing free coaching facilities. Under this initiative, basketball coaching is being offered in Malout and Sultanpur Lodhi, badminton coaching in Sri Muktsar Sahib, and skating training in Rampura Phul Mandi.

Barsat said that sports are an integral part of life as they teach discipline, time management, and team spirit. He noted that sports play a vital role in keeping the younger generation away from drugs and promoting a healthy lifestyle. Along with professional responsibilities, participation in sports is equally important. Amid the pressures of daily life, sports serve as an effective means of keeping individuals mentally and physically refreshed. A healthy mind and body enable people to perform their duties and public service more efficiently.

Expressing his happiness over the event, Barsat said that national-level tournaments provide employees and officials from different states with an opportunity to understand each other’s cultures and strengthen mutual brotherhood. He added that the T-20 Cricket Tournament will continue until June 12 and that Punjab Mandi Board has made comprehensive arrangements to ensure its successful conduct.

Senior officials and employees of the Punjab Mandi Board were also present during the event held at Kisan Bhawan.
