RARE “BLACK-HEADED CORAL SNAKE” SUCCESSFULLY RESCUED FROM PU

Face2News/Chandigarh

A highly rare species of venomous snake, identified as the Black-headed Coral Snake, was successfully rescued from the Fine Arts Department premises of Panjab University. Such a species is not commonly found in the Chandigarh region, making the incident particularly significant.

The rescue operation was carried out by environmentalist Jagjeet Kumar, who handled the situation with great care and expertise, safely capturing the snake.

According to available information, this snake possesses a neurotoxic type of venom, which is considered highly potent. Preliminary assessment suggests that the snake may have reached the premises through a vehicle, commodity, or some other mode of transport from another region, as this species is not naturally found in Chandigarh.

After the rescue, the snake was safely released into a suitable natural habitat, ensuring its survival in the wild while maintaining ecological balance
