The city’s sewage system is in a terrible state. In most of the streets and neighbourhoods in the city, sewage blocks have been formed, causing dirty water to accumulate in people’s homes and on the streets. Tourists face significant difficulties during their travels, while residents of the area are forced to live in a stinky environment, like living in hell.
Sham Sunder Sachdeva, a resident, said that for years, residents of Street No. 6, located at the eighth cross, have been suffering from these sewage blocks. People are forced to make great efforts to move around their own homes and shops. The street had been reconstructed last year with much fanfare after decades but the relief appears to be minimal.
In Patel Park, a major center for the CM Yogshala project, the accumulated water has been unable to be drained for several days now. Residents are facing difficulties in moving around due to the stagnant water, which is a breeding ground for mosquitoes and other diseases. The locals have urged the municipal administration to quickly restore the sewage system and ensure that the stagnant water is drained from various locations. They also demand that accountability should be fixed for poor maintenance.
Municipal Corporation sources said that relief to the entire town can be expected after relaying of the rising main pipeline using the grant received from the Central Govt.
