The Anti Narcotic Cell of Punjab Police arrested two residents of Amritsar, with a huge quantity of heroin and drug money. A case was registered under Sections 21C, 27B, 29, 61, 85 of NDPS Act at the Khuian Sarwar police station.
Police said that the suspects were stopped and searched near Panniwala Mahla village on Abohar-Sriganganagar Road resulting in recovery of 1 kg 5 grams of heroin and drug money worth Rs 3 lakh 90 thousand from them. The arrested youth have been identified as Yuvraj Singh resident of Antaryami Colony, Ranjha di Haveli and Jagjit Singh, resident of Jheete Kalan, near Golden Gate, Amritsar. Police have registered a case against both of them under sections 21C, 27B, 29, 61, 85 of NDPS.
Preliminary investigation indicated that Jagjit Singh opened a dhaba near Suratgarh-Bikaner Road and allegedly indulged in smuggling poppy husk. He met Yuvraj Singh during a visit to a Gurdwara in Amritsar and employed him at the dhaba. Both allegedly planned to smuggle heroin but were held near Abohar.
In another achievement, police and Border Security Force recovered a packet containing 805gm of heroin from a green fodder field near Gehle Wala village. A case has been registered at Jalalabad Sadar Police Station against unidentified persons under Sections 21C/61/85 of the NDPS Act. It is suspected that the drug was smuggled through a Pakistan based smuggler.
