Tragedy struck a family in village Maujgarh of Abohar as a minor boy and his uncle’s daughter died due to drowning in a water reservoir. By this morning, the bodies of both were recovered from the reservoir and taken to the Civil Hospital here for post-mortem.

Locals said that Deepak and Ranjit, both are sons of Munna Lal, an agriculturist. Deepak had one son and one daughter while Ranjit had four daughters. On Saturday at around 11 am, Deepak’s 6-year-old son Siddhant went out of the house while playing with his cousin, 8-year-old Lovepreet daughter of Ranjeet. When both of them did not come home till noon, a search was started but none was found till evening. A search was started for them in the surrounding villages, fields and farms. Meanwhile, at around 2 o’clock in the night, the body of girl Lovepreet was found in a water reservoir, far away from the village. After this, people started searching for Siddhant in the same reservoir and his body was recovered at around 5 am on Sunday resulting in a wave of mourning.
