VETERINARY SURGEON’S MURDER: PROTESTERS DEMAND KHUIAN SARWAR SHO’S SUSPENSION

Raj Sadosh/Abohar.

While the Khuian Sarwar police solved the case of the brutal murder of a veterinarian from Gidderanwali village within a day—apprehending three locals named in the statement of the deceased’s brother—the victim’s family, dissatisfied with the police action, staged a sit-in outside the post-mortem room at Civil Hospital here today. They demanded action against not only the alleged killers but also those who had threatened the victim over the phone and the drug smugglers involved. The protesters also demanded the suspension of the Station House Officer (SHO) for failing to take timely action against drug trafficking.

According to the statement given to the police, Ramandeep Singh alleged that his brother Amandeep, a veterinarian, was murdered brutally by three fellow villagers—Manish Kumar, Sajan Singh, and Jagmeet Singh—at a farmhouse in the village. Ramandeep explained that about a week prior, he had recorded a video of some youths involved in drug trafficking. The accused were friends of these traffickers. After the video went viral, they sent a message to Ramandeep threatening him with dire consequences before eventually killing his brother. Ramandeep claimed that he had lodged a formal complaint at the Khuian Sarwar police station a week earlier regarding the drug smugglers and the threatening video but no action was taken.

MLA Sandeep Jakhar, Congress leaders Sudhir Bhadu and Subhash Baghla, SAD leader Deep Kamboj, farmer leaders Sukhjinder Singh Rajan and Sukhmandar Singh joined the family’s protest. They remarked that this was not merely a tragedy befalling a single family but a grim reflection of Punjab’s deteriorating law and order situation and the escalating menace of drugs. They demanded that the police administration should arrest the suspects who allegedly sent threatening videos. They also demanded SHO, whose negligence emboldened the criminal elements to commit this brutal murder, should be suspended.
