WARRING CONDEMNS MANN’S CONFRONTATIONIST ATTITUDE TOWARDS EMPLOYEES

WARNS AGAINST ANY PUNITIVE ACTION; SAYS CM MUST TALK TO EMPLOYEES,  SAYS, EMPLOYEES ARE ONLY DEMANDING THEIR RIGHTFUL DUE

Face2News/Chandigarh

Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today condemned the confrontationist attitude of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann towards the striking employees demanding the payment of their long overdue DA.
Reacting to reports that Mann had cancelled his meeting with the striking employees and that the government was planning punitive measures against the employees, Warring said this only reflects the dictatorial and autocratic way of functioning of the Chief Minister and his government. He warned against any such action against the employees, telling the Chief Minister, if that happens it will be the beginning of the end for his government.
Expressing solidarity and support with the striking employees, the PCC president said that the protest is the employees’ right and more so when their demands are genuine. He said, it must be a unique case in the entire country that a state government is not only denying payment of the DA to the employees and pensioners, but is also trying to take punitive action against them when they are raising the rightful demand.
Warring asked the Chief Minister that he must start negotiations with the striking employees. “They are not your enemies, but the same people who elected your government and worked shoulder to shoulder with you all these years”, he told Mann, while condemning his betrayal of employees and pensioners at the last minute.
“Or, Mann now believes that the days of his government are numbered, hence there is no point paying them their rightful due even if he had promised it”, Warring remarked. He said, government employees are the backbone of any administration anywhere, hence it is important to ensure that they are not denied their rightful due.
