YOUTH RAPES ABOUT 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL OVER SEVERAL DAYS

Raj Sadosh/Abohar.

A case has come to light involving a minor girl, aged 13.5 years, from a village under the jurisdiction of the Wahabwala police station in Abohar. She was allegedly lured away by a young man from a neighbouring village, held captive for about 15 days, and forcibly raped. Acting on a complaint filed by the minor’s family, the police recovered her from an undisclosed location and brought her to the civil hospital today for a medical examination.

According to reports, the minor’s family informed the police that about 15 days ago, Suraj Bhan Sonu (23), a youth from a neighbouring village, lured the girl away. When she did not return home, the family lodged a complaint with the police. The police subsequently located and recovered the girl using technical means.

The minor stated that the youth had lured her away. He initially kept her hidden in his home for five days and then took her to the house of a distant relative, where he forcibly raped her multiple times. A doctor confirmed that the minor has undergone a medical examination; the report is awaited from Faridkot and will be handed over to the police upon receipt. SHO Ravinder Singh stated that the girl underwent a medical examination after her recovery. A case has been registered against the youth, Sonu, for rape and under the POCSO Act. Police teams have been formed to apprehend him
