In a major breakthrough against cross-border drug smuggling, the Counter Intelligence (CI) Ferozepur, in a joint operation with the Border Security Force (BSF), has arrested two persons and recovered 30.200 kg of heroin from their possession.

The arrested accused have been identified as Sukhwinder Singh, a resident of village Walle Shah Uttar, and Manpreet Singh, a resident of village Nawan Hasta, both in Fazilka district. The police have also impounded a Hero Deluxe motorcycle bearing registration number PB-05-AS-9856 from their possession.

Punjab Police DGP Gaurav Yadav said the investigation was underway to trace the forward and backward linkages of the cross-border drug smuggling network and identify other persons involved with the handlers operating across the border.

Sharing details of the operation, AIG Counter Intelligence Ferozepur Gursewak Singh said the joint team acted on a specific tip-off and launched an operation with BSF Fazilka near village Satirwala on the Hindumalkot road in Fazilka.

He said the team intercepted the two suspects who were travelling on the motorcycle and recovered 30.200 kg of heroin from their possession.

The AIG said further investigation was in progress and more arrests and recoveries were likely as the police work to identify the entire network involved in the smuggling operation.

A case, FIR No. 14 dated August 7, 2026, has been registered at Police Station State Special Operation Cell (SSOC), Fazilka, under Sections 21-C, 25 and 29 of the NDPS Act.
