433 CONVICTED PRISONERS GRANTED SENTENCE REMISSION ON INDEPENDENCE DAY 2026 IN HIMACHAL PRADESH

On the occasion of Independence Day 2026, the Himachal Pradesh Government has granted remission in sentences to eligible convicted prisoners in accordance with the law.

A government spokesperson stated that out of a total of 1,025 convicted inmates lodged in various prisons across the state, 433 prisoners were found eligible for sentence remission. The benefit has been extended as per the prescribed rules and regulations.

The spokesperson further informed that due to the remission granted, three prisoners will be released from jail on the occasion of Independence Day 2026.

The state government has provided this relief in accordance with the applicable legal provisions and established guidelines.
