Rohan Agrawal (21) of Nagpur Maharashtra, who is on a mission of walk and hitchhike journey from India to Omyakom, Siberia as the first ever Indian to hike from India to Siberia on foot, has so far walked 21 thousand km through 28 states in the past three years. On reaching Abohar, he was warmly welcomed by MLA Sandeep Jakhar and other activists.

Rohan began his journey after a holy dip in the Ganga in Varanasi on August 25, 2020 and has been hiking to all states of India imparting awareness about the usage of plastic and its hazardous effects and also giving a message of unity in diversity.

(SUBHEAD)“My major intention of doing this journey is to create awareness about the plastic, its hazardous effects and also giving a message of unity in diversity. I will walk to Oymyakon in Siberia where the temperature is -72 degree and it is the coldest place on earth and may be the first Indian to reach there from India by land route, “he said.

In Bangladesh he was received by hundreds of environment lovers belonging to different communities with open arms, many of them had posted invitations offering all kinds of assistance on his FB page.

Rohan says that the current state of the environment is not hidden from anyone. Governments or social workers alone cannot do anything about this. Unless the public is concerned about the environment, the situation is not going to improve. He called upon people not to throw garbage in open spaces or canals and stop burning stubble and shun using disposable plastic wares.
